Welcome to Totally Sydney

Why we're building another Sydney guide, how it's going to grow, and what to expect over the coming months.

Why build another Sydney site?

Search for almost anything about visiting Sydney and you'll get the same handful of results: listicles written in an afternoon, ad-stuffed blogs padded out with filler, and official tourism copy that reads like nobody involved has actually been to the places it describes. There's very little that reads like it was written by someone who lives here and actually cares whether your trip goes well.

That's the gap Totally Sydney is trying to fill — an honest, properly-researched, constantly-growing reference to the city, written in plain language, with no interest in sending you somewhere just because a placement was paid for.

How this is going to grow

We're starting deliberately small: a handful of neighbourhood guides, attraction write-ups, food recommendations, day trips, and the practical detail that makes a trip actually run smoothly. From here, the plan is to publish new pages two to three times a week, gradually covering:

  • Every Sydney neighbourhood worth knowing about, not just the postcard ones.
  • A genuinely comprehensive things-to-do section, including the stuff locals do that never makes the tourist lists.
  • Deeper food and drink coverage, suburb by suburb.
  • More day trips beyond the obvious ones.
  • A practical info section thorough enough to answer the questions people actually ask before visiting.

Going multilingual

Sydney is one of the most linguistically diverse cities in the world, and its visitors are too. Alongside English, we're building this site out in 16 languages, starting with the pages that matter most and expanding from there. If your language isn't fully translated yet, the site will tell you honestly rather than pretending — and it'll get there.

Follow along

There's no faster way to find out what's new than checking back here. Thanks for reading this far — more soon.
